Chapter Seven – Indira Rajpal

As you can imagine, it wasn't easy for the circus folk to attend doctor's surgeries when they had a medical complaint, what with all the moving around and tracking of records. Therefore, to ensure a clean bill of health for all his employees, Roly O'Hare arranged an annual visit from a general practitioner before they left the city limits each summer. For the past three summers, the doctor had been a no-nonsense Indian woman named Indira Rajpal, whose practice was located in one of the capital's poorer areas. She both appreciated the sum of cash and free family tickets to the show that the gaffer passed to her when the check-ups were completed and enjoyed the week or so away from her regular patients. There were rarely any serious ailments amongst the troupe and the visits always left the usually serious doctor with a wide grin on her face. This summer was no different to the previous two, just a slight increase in the age of the patients and the best weather the country had seen for some years.
